A distinctive grey moth with darker grey bands and crosslines. Rests with forelegs outstretched.

Recording Method

Attracted to light.

Life cycle

One generation. Overwinters as a pupa, larva late June to early October.

Larval foodplants

A wide range of broadleaved trees and shrubs.

Habitat

Gardens, hedgerows and woodland.

History

The first recent record was one at Kippford (VC 73) on 29 May 2022. Multiple recordings have occurred in the region since 2023.
